Syria expresses condolences to the people and government of India over victims of landslides in Kerala

Damascus, (ST) – Syria expressed its condolences and regret over the victims of landslides and collapses that occurred in the Indian state of Kerala. It stressed its solidarity and support for the friendly government and people of India and its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement today: The Syrian Arab Republic expresses its deep regret over the victims of landslides and collapses that occurred in the state of Kerala in India yesterday, which claimed the lives of more than 40 people and resulted in many injuries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued: While Syria expresses its sincere condolences and sympathy; it affirms its solidarity and support for India and its friendly people, and its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.

More than 160 people have been killed and dozens have been injured as a result of landslides and collapses caused by heavy monsoon rains in southern India in the state of Kerala.
