Syria condemns the disgraceful act of burning a Holy Quran copy by an extremist with the approval of the Swedish government
The Syrian Arab Republic condemned in the strongest terms the disgraceful act of insulting the Holy Quran in Stockholm in the morning of Eid Al-Adha, one of the holiest days for millions of Muslims, by an extremist with the approval of the Swedish government.
An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said: “This crime, apart from touching the feelings of millions of Muslims and contradicting the feelings of love and respect between religions, unequivocally illustrates the low moral level to which Western governments have descended, and indicates the hypocrisy and false values these governments have claimed, noting a level of extremism to which even the most radical groups, which are far from human and spiritual values, have not reached yet”.
The source added: The governments of the West, which suffer from the complex of civilizational superiority, must stop spreading and fueling feelings of hatred among peoples, and know that the freedom of some stops at the limits of the freedom of others and must respect their feelings, and therefore they cannot in any way justify their crime by attacking the Holy Quran.
It is to be noted that popular and official condemnations were issued yesterday in Arab and Islamic countries after an extremist burned a copy of the Holy Qur’an in front of the Stockholm Central Mosque in Sweden after the Eid al-Adha prayer.
