Minister of Water Resources Tammam Raad and the Chinese Ambassador in Damascus Shi Hongwei on Monday discussed a number of issues related to the work of the Ministry and the water sector in general.
Raad reviewed some of the ministry’s important and priority projects which the Chinese ambassador expressed his country’s willingness to support. The ambassador also confirmed China’s readiness to upgrade the level of technical cooperation through implementing human cadre training programmes.
Raad explained the repercussions of the terrorist war on Syria on the water sector, including irrigation, drinking water and sewage especially in the light of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, which negatively affected the standard of living and services, as well as the level of services provided by the government.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador explained his country’s firm policy of rejecting aggression against peoples in general and against Syria in particular, reiterating his country’s call to lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.
He said that the Chinese government is interested in supporting the work of the Ministry of Water Resources, because of its great importance in providing services to citizens and supporting food security and social stability.
