Madrid, (ST) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called on the European Union countries today to respond to the request of Spain and Ireland and suspend the free trade agreement with the Israeli occupation entity.
AP quoted Sanchez as saying during a forum in Barcelona organized by the Prisa Media Group: This comes in light of concerns about Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon, which may violate the human rights clause in the partnership agreement between the European Union and Tel Aviv.
The trade relationship between the European Union and the Israeli entity is subject to the Free Trade Area Agreement, which forms part of the partnership agreement between them in 2000.
On the other hand, Sanchez stressed that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) will not withdraw from its positions, criticizing the statements of the Prime Minister of the Israeli occupation entity, Benjamin Netanyahu, who called on the Secretary-General of the international organization, Antonio Guterres, on Sunday to withdraw it.
Sanchez said: We condemn, and will continue to condemn, the statement made by Netanyahu yesterday with all firmness.
