BRUSSELS,(ST)_ A group of Arab and French associations held yesterday a sit-in before the European Parliament in Brussels to denounce the support provided by certain countries for terrorism, especially France, Saudi Arabia and calling for halting funding it and eliminating massacres committed against peoples.
Participants in the sit- in demanded concerned world countries and organizations an immediate action to save the Arab civilizations that have to be destroyed at the hands of terrorists, pointing to the risks the Syrian city of Palmyra and the Yemeni Saba city are experiencing of acts of theft and destruction.
The participants also called on European and Arab countries that support armed terrorist organizations to stop its support of terrorism, which kills safe peoples and commit the most heinous massacres against civilians and innocent people.
In a statement to SANA, event co-organizer Syrian expatriate Omran al-Khatib said: “as organizations and associations, which stand against war and torture of Arab peoples, we wanted to organize a sit-in in front of the European Parliament to awaken the world’s conscience, especially countries that claim commitment to human rights “.
For her part, Dima Ali, head of activities and coordination office in the Syrian National Union society in France stressed support for any activity against supporting and funding terrorism, adding that “the aggression mounted by Saudi Arabia and its allies against the Yemeni people is no different from crimes carried out by Daesh terrorist organization against the Syrian people and their civilization, commending the heroism of the Syrian army and the steadfastness of the Syrian people.
For his part, Mahfoud Baba, member of Friends of Syria society from Algeria said that he “came from France to Belgium to take part in the sit-in and express solidarity for Syria as an axis of resistance and the beating heart of Arabism, whose people are currently experiencing the most powerful forms of wars, conspiracies and terrorist attacks.”
Among participants in the event were the expatriates gathering for Syria, Syria youth imprint in the Netherlands, the Arab Youth Union, Association in defense of Yemen, the Yemeni humanitarian Association, the Federation of Syrian nationals, the Tunisian people movement and the French geopolitical academy.
