Sen.Thomas Massie: US administration’s plans to confiscate frozen Russian assets is theft

WASHINGTON, JUN.8, (ST)- US Senator Thomas Massie has confirmed that the United States is shooting itself in the foot by imposing sanctions on countries, including Russia.

TASS quoted Massie as saying during an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson: “At some point, other countries will stop using the US dollar as a reserve currency… The truth is that before the sanctions were imposed on Russia, 70% of all its transactions were in the US dollar, and after their imposition it decreased. This indicator is less than 20 percent, and the irony is that with all these sanctions we are shooting ourselves in the foot.”

He also described the US administration’s plans to confiscate frozen Russian assets as immoral, stressing that this is theft, immoral, and is short-sighted.
