(SDF) militia seizes the hearing disability center in Ghweran neighborhood in Al-Hasakah

On January 15ththe US-backed (SDF) militia seized the Center for Hearing Impairment (Institute for the Deaf and Dumb) in the Ghweran neighborhood of Hasakah, expelled the students and educational staff from it, and turned it into a headquarters for its militants.

The Director of Social Affairs and Labor, Ibrahim Khalaf, stated that the (SDF ) militia “has taken over the building since the beginning of last week, and after the failure of attempts to return it, it took over the headquarters completely, and turned it into a military headquarters for its militants, and prevented the administrative and teaching staff from entering.”

Khalaf indicated that the institute includes 48 students with disabilities and about 20 teachers, and it is the only institute in the region.

The center is located in the areas seized by the militia (SDF) in the Ghweran neighborhood, near the sports city, near the headquarters of the American occupation forces.

These practices by the militia come as a continuation of what it did in the city of Hasakah in June 2020 when it seized by force of arms the buildings of several institutions and service facilities, including the building of the Syrian General Administration of Grain in the Ghweran neighborhood, the building of the General Electricity Company of Hasakah and the Sports City, and buildings of Youth housing, the Syrian Informatics Association, the Directorate of Industry, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, the Traffic Branch, the Directorate of Civil Registry and the Commercial Bank, and expelled workers from those buildings.
