Russia, China stress the need for strict adherence to international obligations regarding state immunities and property

Russia and China stressed the need to strictly adhere to international obligations regarding the immunities of states and their property, including sovereign reserve currencies, stressing that the seizure of assets and property of other states by certain countries must be met with retaliatory measures.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Chinese Premier Li Qiang said in a joint statement after their meeting in Moscow: “The two countries condemn initiatives to seize the assets and property of states, and affirm the right of these states to take retaliatory measures,” stressing “continuing to deepen practical cooperation in the financial sector between the two countries to ensure the sustainability of Russian-Chinese trade, by strengthening mutual understanding and dialogue between their financial and banking organizations, and ensuring the normal and uninterrupted functioning of settlement.”
The two countries agreed to develop regular dialogue in the field of information technology and information security, including open source code, operating systems, software and services. They also agreed to develop work in the field of extraction and transportation of fossil fuels by signing an agreement between Russia and China aimed at deepening multifaceted cooperation in the exploration, production, processing and transportation of oil, gas and coal, supporting the construction and stable operation of the Russian-Chinese oil and gas pipeline, and strengthening cooperation in liquefied natural gas, electricity and new energy projects, including cross-border projects.
Mishustin and Li Qiang co-chaired the 29th regular meeting of the joint committee of the two countries in Moscow, while Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Qiang in the Kremlin, focusing on strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries.
