Putin: Russia defends the principle of the rule of law at Local and international arena

Moscow, (ST) – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday stressed that his country defends the principle of the rule of law in domestic politics and at the international level.

Sputnik News Agency quoted Putin as saying today in a speech at the 12th International Legal Forum held in St. Petersburg, which was published by the Kremlin: The forum’s meetings have become an important event in which well-known legal scholars, experts and practicing lawyers exchange their experiences, and discuss innovations and legislative initiatives to build strong legal bases from which work can be launched to enhance global stability, protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, human rights and civil liberties.

President Putin stressed that the key role of law in solving global and regional problems, developing economic and humanitarian relations, and combating common threats cannot be denied, stressing that the BRICS group seeks to develop an effective legal system, and Russia, which chairs the group this year, is ready to deepen cooperation in this field with other countries in Asia, the Pacific, Africa and Latin America.

It is worth noting that the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum was established in 2011 and it is the largest platform for legal, political and entrepreneurial cultural dialogue.
