Putin discusses with Iraqi PM the unprecedented escalation in Middle East

The Russian presidency announced that President Vladimir Putin discussed Middle East issues in a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, in light of the unprecedented escalation of tensions in the region.
Sputnik quoted the presidency as saying in a statement today: Putin held a phone conversation with the Iraqi Prime Minister, during which it was agreed to hold contacts at various levels, adding: “Current issues of bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic and transportation fields were discussed, and special attention was paid to the implementation of major projects in the energy sector.”
The statement continued: “Various aspects of joint work within the framework of “OPEC Plus” were considered, which allows maintaining the stability of the global oil market, and the importance of continuing to coordinate steps in this way” . The two parties expressed their mutual commitment to continue expanding traditional friendly and mutually beneficial relations in line with the agreements reached during negotiations between the two sides in Moscow in October 2023.
