The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil affirmed that the Syrian economy was subjected during the years of the terrorist war to great difficulties that were reflected on the living conditions.
Al-Khalil said during a press conference that the terrorist war on Syria has caused the destruction of infrastructure and led to great losses, and that the American occupation continues to plunder the Syrian people’s wealth of oil and wheat.
The Minister of Economy indicated that the high rates of inflation globally led to an increase in prices in most countries, including Syria, adding that the prices of oil, gas and grains rose at different rates as a result of the increase in shipping costs.
Al-Khalil explained that there is a government plan to manage the economic and living conditions in light of the recent developments, and that markets will be controlled and monitored to ensure that prices are not raised and monopoly is prevented.
The Minister of Economy emphasized the intensification of work to increase the role of positive intervention institutions to be a key factor in controlling prices, and that there are contracts to supply a number of basic materials so that there is no shortage of them.
