President Maduro congratulates President Al-Assad on his victory in the presidential elections
President Maduro said, “On behalf of the people and the government in Venezuela, I congratulate the Syrian people and President al-Assad on the results of the presidential elections,” adding that the presidential elections constituted a victory for peace and Syrian national sovereignty over the fierce war imposed on the brotherly Syrian people who resisted under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad with dignity and impressive patriotism the ambitions of the imperialist powers and terrorist groups that tried to subjugate it.
He added that the mass turnout to vote is an explicit message of popular rejection of the alleged agendas of the imperial powers, renewing Venezuela’s firm support for Syria and its willingness to deepen and expand bilateral cooperation and contribute to the prosperity of both peoples and consolidate the sovereignty and future determination of both countries.
