President Bashar al-Assad receives Khaji

On June 28thPresident Bashar al-Assad received the Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji and the accompanying delegation. 

The meeting dealt with the strategic relations between the two countries, and the importance of the role played by the joint committees to enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially at the economic level, in the interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.

During the meeting, the situation in the region was reviewed and a number of issues of political concern were discussed, especially the agenda of the Astana meetings

 

The two sides stressed the importance of the Constitution Discussion Committee following its work without any outside interventions. 

President Bashar al-Assad congratulated the leadership and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the success of the presidential elections

For his part, Khaji stressed that the presidential elections in Syria witnessed wide and popular participation and it is a clear message of the strength of the will of Syrian people. 

The meeting was attended from the Syrian side by Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Assistant Foreign Minister Ayman Susan, Radwan Lotfi, Director of Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Lona Al-Shibl, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic

Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met with Khaji and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, develop their horizons, and continue cooperation to overcome the effects of unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian and Iranian peoples. 

Khaji praised the success of the presidential elections in Syria, expressing his admiration for the wide public participation that they witnessed. 

The two sides dealt with the preparations for the upcoming Astana meeting and stressed the need to respect Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity

The meeting was attended by Dr. Al-Jaafari, Dr. Susan, Ambassador Lutfi, Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Special Office Department, and Ihab Hamed from the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Iranian ambassador in Damascus and the delegation accompanying Khaji.
