President Al-Assad: Biggest Mistake Made by Some European Countries Is Keeping Disconnected from Reality

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad has stressed that one of the biggest mistakes made by some European countries is keeping disconnected from reality, as governments’ knowledge of the reality of things is the most important step to build real and right policies that help these governments adopt specific stances that serve the interests of their peoples.

President Al-Assad made the remarks during his meeting on Thursday with a Polish delegation led by MP Pavel Skutitsky.

The delegation is visiting Syria to take a closer look at the latest developments in Syria, according to members of the delegation.

President Al-Assad explained to the guest delegation the war the Syrian people have been facing for more than seven years in which different tools were used including terrorism, direct aggression, economic sanctions, interference in the country’s  internal affairs and attempts to isolate and siege the country.

Members of the delegation affirmed that Syria’s war on terrorism and the achievements made in the fight against terrorist organizations in the country have contributed to limit the expansion of terrorism which could reach neighboring countries and then Europe.

They expressed hope that the Syrian state will manage to completely eliminate terrorism and reestablish control over the entire Syrian territory.

The delegation talked about the results of its meetings in Damascus and about the initiatives it is carrying, including the establishment of a Syrian-Polish parliamentary committee to enhance bilateral relations and discuss cultural exchange.

President Al-Assad welcomed the initiatives, stressing that Damascus is open to all efforts aiming to build good relations with other peoples of the world.

Within the same context, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammoudeh al-Sabbagh held a meeting with the Polish delegation during which ways to boost parliamentary ties to serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries were discussed.
