President Al-Assad receives Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ President Bashar Al-Assad received on Tuesday Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov and the accompanying economic delegation.
 
The talks dealt with the current bilateral cooperation between Syria and Russia, especially at the economic and investment levels, and the joint efforts being exerted to expand this cooperation with the aim of encompassing other sectors like up-to-date technology, industry and agriculture .
 
The two sides pointed out that the dynamic relations between Syria and Russia helps expand the horizon of cooperation between the two countries.
 
President Al-Assad expressed his satisfaction  with the advanced level of cooperation with Russia, stressing Syria’s keenness on making the joint Syrian-Russian investments successful as they play a key role in boosting joint cooperation and serving the interests of the countries’ peoples.
 
He in addition underscored the importance of the continuity of  consultation and coordination with Russian allies, who have been partners in fighting terrorism and have stood by Syria politically and economically to restore stability and security and to overcome the impacts of economic terrorism being imposed on the people of Syria.
 
For his part, Borisov congratulated President Al-Asaad on his victory in the recent Presidential elections, saying that the wide participation in the elections proved the Syrian people’s determination to remain steadfast despite terrorism and siege.
 
He affirmed that his country is ready to go ahead with supporting Syria in all fields with the aim of easing the impacts of the economic sanctions and to take part in reconstruction process and to provide Syria with further Covid-19 vaccines.
 
Borisov briefed President Al-Assad on the result of the summit held between the Russian president Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden with regard to Syrian issue.
 
He reiterated Russia’s firm stance which is based on international legitimacy and law and on respecting the sovereignty of states.
