President Al-Assad receives a Russian delegation headed by Borisov

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ President Bashar al-Assad received on Monday a Russian delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and a number of diplomats.

The two sides expressed their satisfaction over the level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields. They asserted the determination of Damascus and Moscow to go ahead with developing this cooperation for the interest of the two countries’ peoples.
 
As for economic cooperation, the Syrian and Russian sides talked about the implementation of the signed agreements and the possibility of reaching new agreements for the interests of the two countries and for easing the negative impacts of the coercive sanctions being imposed on Syria by some countries.
 
The talks also focused on the necessity of implementing the mechanisms that help overcome the embargo and pressures being put on the people of Syria.
 
In the political track , the Russian delegation asserted the continuity of Moscow’s support for Syria in all tracks despite some western countries’ attempts to hinder reaching agreements that serve the Syrian people.
 
The Russian delegation also stressed adherence to preserve Syria’s sovereignty and to restore its role at regional and international levels.
 
President al-Assad affirmed that Syria was and still adopting flexibility on political track in parallel with fighting terrorism to achieve stability and security and to meet Syrian people’s demands.
 
He expressed the Syrian people’s appreciation for the Russian political, military and economic support to their country to restore stability and to overcome the impacts of economic terrorism on Syrian citizens.
 
The president emphasized that Syrian government will continue to work with Russian allies to implement the signed agreements, including Russian investments in Syria.
