President Al-Assad issues two decrees appointing new minsters and establishing the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic

President Bashar Al-Assad on Wednesday issued Decree No. 313 for the year 2023, appointing Hussein Makhlouf as Minister of Water Resources, and Lamia Youssef Shakour as Minister of Local Administration and Environment.

The President also issued decree No. 38 on the establishment of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, which replaces the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.

According to the decree, this General Secretariat aims at doing the work that assists the President in performing his duties and powers. The Secretariat will be responsible for managing and supervising the administrative, financial and legal issues of the Presidency, and it is headed by a Secretary-General.
