President Al-Assad issues law that provides for establishing the University of “Christian Theology, Religious and Philosophical Studies”
President Bashar Al-Assad on Wednesday issued Law No. (34) on establishing a private university called the “University of Christian Theology, Religious and Philosophical Studies”.
According to the law, the university includes the College of Christian Theology, the College of Philosophical Studies and Comparative Religion, the College of Religious Studies and History of Religions, and the Institute of Ancient Languages.
The university seeks to be a progressive intellectual center for higher education that aims to help qualify researchers in theology, religious, historical and philosophical studies, and comparative religious studies, and to prepare professors to be influential in their society through openness and creating a scientific intellectual dialogue based on analysis, synthesis, and the ability to debate and transfer knowledge to others with the aim of education and to deepen respect for the beliefs of others.
