President Al-Assad Congratulates Iran’s Rouhani on Winning Presidential Elections

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad on Saturday congratulated his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on winning a second term as president of Iran and on getting the Iranian people’s trust to lead Iran and press ahead with enhancing the country’s position and key role in the region and the world.

In his congratulation cable, President Al-Assad said the Iranian presidential elections have presented an example to follow as they were held in a democratic atmosphere and in high spirit responsibility.  

 President Al-Assad wished President Rouhani and the Iranian brotherly people all success and prosperity, stressing Syria’s constant work and cooperation with Iran to enhance security and stability in the two countries, in the region and in the entire world.   

Earlier President Hassan Rouhani was declared winner of Iran’s 12th presidential election after getting  57 percent of the total ballot.
