Homs, (ST) – Each year, Education Directorate in Homs begins tireless work to accomplish its most important work which is, preparing for the final public examinations for the secondary and preparatory certificates since it is the outcome of a full academic year of serious and hardworking efforts to attain good results.
Regarding the preparing process, Education Director, Mr Ahmad Ibrahim, told ST that the preparation process for exams passes through several stages. It starts by preparing the examination centers and finding centers in the rural regions for the students who are not registered in schools. As well as preparing the examination cards and present them to the students. The directorate seeks also to ensure security and protection to all the centers in order to provide safe and healthy atmosphere for the students to make their exam optimally.
Mr. Ibrahim goes on to say: “The achieved work concerning examination preparation has been made thanks to the efforts and hard work done by the employees in the Directorate and examination department, as well as through coordination and cooperation with all the concerned authorities in the Homs”.
“The number of students registered in the public High School Certificate exam reached 17663 students including 10 816 students in the scientific branch and 6847 in the literary branch .
While the number of students registered for the technical and professional secondary school certificate examinations is 2585 student.
The number of students applying for the basic education and religious preparatory certification exams reached 31760.
The number of exam centers in the province of Homs reached 435 centers distributed as follows:
256 for the basic education, 142 for the public high schools, 3 for the religious secondary schools and 32 for the vocational secondary schools”.
Mr. Ibrahim stressed: “According to directives of the Ministry of Education and in order to adjust the quality of the exam and improve education outcomes, a new exam center was established in-Baath University, to accommodate all students applying the public examinations. The centre was created because there are not enough centers in the city since a great number of the city schools are not suitable to be exam centers as they are either harbor centers or dramatically vandalized”.
With regard to the to the examination process in the hot spots, Mr. Ibrahim said: “For hot areas such as the northern countryside and al-Waaer area, the examination centers for students have been appointed within the city. The Directorate of Education in collaboration with the concerned authorities will do its best to ensure the transfer of students to and from the examination centers”.
