When man gets a long-awaited position, he starts having two ambivalent thoughts; attire versus manner.
The first thought attracts him to the generous hand that has the credit to make him secure this target, while the second thought is the new position to dedicate efforts to be an instrument of help and an expression of patriotism.
Normally the first thought is more pressing with respect to an upstart employee feasting on the job perks after having languished long lean years when he feels that he needs a booster shot to make him forget those restless nights which might only bode ill for the future.
Therefore, the employee undergoes a conflicting feeling to erase nightmares. Premonitions propel him to be obsequious, and blindly truthful to the upper echelons in power who catapulted him to the position. It is where the bill swells and the employee had to foot this bill without grumbling about the price tag.
Although it is very hard situation to cope with but still acceptable. But when the chain of concessions go on unabated, it will become too hard to continue making concessions at the employee`s principles, values and ideals.
At this juncture, some ideas and adages come out from the hibernation phase belatedly where the employee recalls to mind morality, honor and conscientiousness.
The second thought which starts to be imbued with enthusiasm and action -orientation moves at a slower pace. While the employee is indulging in the perks of the new position, enthusiasm dims gradually. So struggle sways between two thoughts: satisfying conscience and numbness.
Conscience nags the employee to favor the good over other proclivities the least of which is evil. The employee used to have a sizeable chunk of brilliant and creative ideas. Today he is able to apply those thoughts partially or totally. Despite this fact, he is fettered to a hectic enthusiasm to satisfy those who make their own interests take precedence over the interest of the homeland as they reserve no room for the nation being pretty much swamped in a long list of aspirations.
On the other hand, the employee becomes more attached to his irresistible armchair job. The employee can settle this dispute by the mere conviction that the velvety position is a tentative case, whereas being helpful and proactive he can build a living legacy of giving the substance of which is accessible everywhere.
Suffice it to say that serving the nation and people can be the best expression of satisfaction because attitudes determine altitudes.
