Rome (ST)- Pope Francis, criticized yesterday what he called the “shameful inability” of the international community to end the war in the Middle East.
The Italian Aki Agency quoted Pope Francis as saying in a message:” A year has passed since the shameful failure of the international community and powerful countries to silence the weapons and put an end to the tragedy of war.”
The Pope considered that weapons do not build the future but destroy it, and that violence never brings peace, and that history has proven this.
He added: It seems that years of conflicts have taught us nothing.
Pope Francis had previously criticized the Zionist enemy’s raids on Lebanon, saying:” The air raids have crossed the boundaries of morality.”
He described the Israeli aggression on Lebanon as unacceptable, calling on the international community to take action to stop the war.
