Polyansky: West wants Ukraine to dominate UN agenda despite Middle East crises

Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky stressed that the West wants Ukraine to dominate the UN agenda, despite the acute crises in the Middle East, especially Gaza.
“Western countries announced that they will organize a meeting on Ukraine to honor Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who will come to the UN headquarters, and it is clear that they want to put Ukraine at the top of every issue discussed by the organization, despite the fact that there are many crises occurring, including the very acute crisis in the Middle East, especially Gaza.” In a statement to Sputnik on Monday , Polyansky said.
Asked whether Russia had seen Zelensky’s alleged peace plan, Polyansky said: “We don’t know what Zelensky is planning and there is a lot of smoke around what he will propose.”
Earlier this month, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that Russia would not participate in the so-called “peace summits” in the proposed format on Ukraine, stressing that these summits have nothing to do with a settlement.
