Polio vaccination campaign 2022 to be launched Sunday

The Ministry of Health is to launch its first polio vaccination campaign for the year 2022 on Sunday to further immunize the Syrian children against this disease.

The 10-day campaign targets children aged between 1-day-old and 5-year-old.

According to Director of the ministry’s Preliminary Healthcare Department Razan Al-Tarabishi, 2.7 million children in different Syrian provinces will hopefully be covered by this campaign. She stressed that technical and logistic preparations for launching the campaign were completed, pointing out that 977 health centers, 2450 teams are dedicated for this event.

 Al-Tarabishi affirmed that the vaccine is free, safe and effective and it is recommended by the World Health organization.
