Peskov: Washington and its allies must confront millions of hungry people due to its sanctions against Russia
Moscow (ST): Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov called on the United States and European countries that made the mistake of imposing sanctions on Russian fertilizers to think about how to respond to millions of hungry people later.
Peskov was quoted by Sputnik news agency as saying: “It is well known that the United States and the European Union, in particular, do not allow the payment of prices for Russian fertilizers, and they, in particular, do not allow insurance of the ships carrying them.”
Peskov pointed out that Washington, after initially imposing restrictions on Russian fertilizers, later realized, unlike its European colleagues, the seriousness of the matter and equated fertilizers with basic products and lifted restrictions on them, but despite that, it maintained indirect restrictions that impede the access of these fertilizers to the market.
The Russian spokesman explained that these restrictions are related, for example, to insurance on ships and the ports’ non-acceptance of Russian ships’ entry.
