Personalities from the Golan and Quneitra: We will continue the path of struggle against the Israeli occupation until the return of the Golan to the homeland
39 years have passed since the ill-fated decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to annex the occupied Syrian Golan. The people of the Golan in particular and the Syrians in general are still more insistent on defeating the occupier and liberating their land and adhering to the Syrian national identity.
The people of the Golan and Quneitra confirmed in statements that they will continue the path of struggle in the face of the Israeli occupation and its aggressive policies and expansion plans in the Golan.
They said that the ill-fated decision of annexation is illegal and has no legal value and will not change anything about the reality of history and geography that the Golan was, is, and will remain Arab and Syrian.
Sheikh Suleiman al-Maqt, the father of the released war prisoner, Sidqi, stated that the people of the Golan had rejected and failed the settlement and expansionist policies of the Israeli occupation and the identity of the occupier and its laws on the Golan and clung to their land and their belonging to their homeland despite the intimidation, siege and restrictions on the people in their livelihoods.
The Mukhtar of the Golan, Farhan Shaalan, stated that that the more time that passes with the Golan under occupation, the more the people of the Golan will cling to their land and their determination to liberate it and return it to Syria.
Hassan Fakhreddine from the occupied village of Majdal Shams said that all the people of the Golan reject the ill-fated annexation decision because the land of the Golan is Syrian Arab and will return soon.
For her part, poet Amali Al-Qadmani, wife of the late Ahmed Al-Qadmani, said that the people of the Golan have gathered from four villages in the squares and chanted in one voice and loudly, ‘we, Syrian Arabs, we were and will remain, and we will not accept the annexation decision.”
Hamza Suleiman, from Quneitra, stressed that the Golan is Syrian Arab despite of the Israeli occupier.
Sheikh Radwan al-Tahan, one of the notables of Quneitra, said that the Golan is the land of fathers and it is a legitimate right for us and our grandchildren.
The liberated war prisoner Ali Al-Younis stressed that resistance is the way to liberate the entire Golan because the occupation can only be understood in this language.
On December 14, 1981, the Israeli occupation authorities issued their invalid decision to annex the occupied Golan, while our people in the Golan carried out a national strike on February 14, 1982 against the occupier that lasted six months to reject the sinister annexation decision.
