People’s Assembly: The martyrs of Parliament Garrison represent an immortal heroic memory in the face of French colonizer

The People’s Assembly confirmed that the heroes of the Syrian Parliament Garrison who were martyred as a result of the brutal French aggression on the Parliament building on the 29th  of May 1945 presented an immortal and epic national model of the heroic Syrian people who stood in the face of the French usurper.

“On the seventy-seventh anniversary of that French aggression: The protectors of the Syrian Parliament sacrificed their lives in defense of their homeland, so that the banner of the Syrian flag would flutter in the sky when they refused with pride,  patriotism and loyalty to salute  the French flag,” the PA said in a statement.

The Assembly referred to the heinous crime committed by the French colonizer in the face of the heroic stance of the Parliament garrison, when the occupiers attacked the parliament building and demolished its facade and bombed the city of Damascus which took the lives of so many martyrs.

The Assembly indicated that in the face of the greatness of the resistance shown by the Syrian people, the colonists were defeated in humiliation, and the last French soldier was evacuated from the homeland on the 17th  of April 1946, after they gave the world lessons in the arts of struggle, resistance and defense of the homelands from a people who did not know the meaning of defeat, despair and despondency.

“The present is similar to the past in terms of what Syria has been subjected to for more than 11 years. This is clearly evident when the global aggression pursued its colonial policy by following the same methods, but in disguised forms under false pretexts and slogans. The United States, the Zionist entity and their allies worked on practicing the most severe forms of aggression against Syria and mobilizing against it all kinds of killers, terrorists and mercenaries from all over the world,” the Assembly added.

The Assembly expressed geat respect and admiration to the souls of the martyrs of the Parliament Garrison and the righteous martyrs of Syria, stressing that their memory will remain immortal forever and a stimulus to continue the triumphant march of reconstruction with the solidarity of Syrian people, the determination of Syrian Arab Army and the wisdom of our leader Mr. President Bashar Al-Assad.
