Quneitra, (ST) – At the site of Ain Al-Tineh, opposite to the occupied town of Majdal Shams in the Syrian Golan, people in Quneitra governorate gathered to commemorate the 77th anniversary of Syria’s Evacuation Day.
Participants in the event affirmed that this occasion strengthens their determination to continue the path of their ancestors in combating colonialism and aggression. They renewed their rejection of the Israeli occupation of the Syrian Golan and its aggressive and settlement practices aimed at Judaizing the Golan and obliterating the Syrian Arab identity.
From the occupied city of Majdal Shams, the steadfast people in the Golan affirmed, through their speeches, their adherence to the Syrian Arab identity which has been maintained by the blood of the martyrs and the sacrifices of the past generation. They stressed that the occupied Golan is an integral part of Syria and that the Israeli occupation will inevitably end.
During a mass rally held by the Quneitra branch of the Baath Arab Socialist Party, in cooperation with the Quneitra Governorate, on this occasion, the Governor of Quneitra Moataz Abu al-Nasr Jamran drew attention to the national meaning and indication of celebrating the Evacuation Day, which the ancestors achieved with their sacred blood. He considered that this occasion recalls the heroism and sacrifices offered by the revolutionaries against the French colonialism.
Qasim Muhammad, Secretary of the Socialist Unionist Party Branch in Quneitra, indicated that Evacuation Day was achieved as the result of decades of popular struggle against colonialism in order to liberate the land and preserve the unity of the country.
Sheikh Suleiman Shams recalled the heroics of the revolutionaries in Quneitra against the French colonizer, considering that these heroics are recalled today through the steadfastness of the people of the occupied Golan in the face of Israeli Judaization and settlement expansion schemes.
The Mayor of Golan Issam Al-Shaalan indicated that the battles of evacuation will not end until the entire Golan is liberated and returned to the Syrian national sovereignty.
On the opposite side, the citizens in occupied Golan gathered in the occupied town of Majdal Shams and headed towards the celebration site opposite of Ain al-Tineh in Quneitra. They carryied the Syrian flag and banners glorifying the memory of Evacuation Day, pictures of the leaders of the great Syrian Revolution against the French colonialists and pictures of President Bashar al-Assad.
They chanted slogans supporting the Syrian Arab Army and emphasizing their adherence to their homeland and their continued struggle until liberation is achieved and the Israeli occupation is defeated.
Citizens in Golan affirmed that Golan will continue to be a Syrian Arab territory, stressing their rejection of the Israeli occupation and all its schemes, most recent of which is the wind turbines.
Dean of the liberated Syrian prisoners Sidqi Al-Maqt said in a statement to SANA that the struggle of the Syrian people and the heroics of the army in confronting terrorism constitute a continuation of the heroism of the ancestors.
Al-Maqt pointed out that the people of the occupied Syrian Golan renew their pledge on this anniversary to continue the path of struggle and resistance until the land is liberated from the Israeli occupation.
