CAPE TOWN, JUN.11, (ST)-South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor has revealed that her country has been exposed to Western pressure and threats because of the steps it has taken to support the Palestinian people, especially after the lawsuit it filed against the Zionist occupation entity before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
In response to a question by Sputnik, Pandor said: “South Africa is under pressure from the West after its position towards the Palestinian issue. There are threats and a proposed bill in the US House of Representatives that seeks to punish South Africa for the steps it has taken to support the Palestinian people.”
She added: “It is very unfortunate because the people who are pushing this bill are the same people who lecture in Africa about human rights, but today they do not recognize the human rights of the Palestinians.
Pandor reiterated her country’s firm support for the Palestinian people and stressed upon the work being done to prevent the harm caused to them by the Israeli occupation authorities.
Last December, South Africa filed a lawsuit against the Israeli occupation entity before the ICJ for violating the 1948 United Nations Convention , and several countries later on submitted requests to join the same case.
