Palestinians mark 74th Anniversary of Deir Yassin massacre

Today, the Palestinians mark the 74th anniversary of Deir Yassin massacre, one of the ugliest crimes committed by the Zionist gangs against the Palestinian people.

During this massacre 360 Palestinians, mostly women, children and elderly, were killed in cold blood in a scene that will never be erased from the Palestinian memory, not because of the big number of martyrs, but because of its bloody repercussions that resulted in the displacement of thousands of Palestinians from their lands and the usurpation of their homeland.

At the dawn of April 9th, 1948, the Zionist terrorist attack on Deir Yassin village, west of Al-Quds city, was led by Menachem Begin, head of the “Irgun” gang, and Yitzhak Shamir, head of the Stern extremist gang. Both leaders of the two gangs, in a later stage, occupied the position of prime minister in the Israeli government.

The two gangs attacked the village from the east and the south. The strong resistance of the residents led the gangs to ask for the help of the “Balmakh” gang which rained the village with mortar shells that paved the way for them to capture the village.

Members of the two terrorist gangs blew up houses, killed everything that moves, stopped children, women, the elderly and young people against the walls and shot at them. They also mutilated the bodies of the martyrs. The gangs also took 25 men from the village and mercilessly executed them, proving the policy of terrorism and ethnic cleansing practiced by the Zionists against the Palestinians.

The massacre was committed under the sight of the British mandate forces which didn’t do anything to prevent it, rather, they were happy enjoying what they were seeing.

The Zionist gangs were not satisfied with mass executions, torture, mutilation of dead bodies, rather, they prevented the international institutions, including the Red Cross, to reach and enter the massacre site to figure out what happened on the ground.

A journalist, who witnessed the massacre, described the scene saying “it was something that monsters themselves refuse to do. The killers brought a Palestinian girl and raped her in front of her family. Then, they tortured her and threw her in the fire. They also mutilated the bodies of the martyrs, took out their organs and cut open the belly of pregnant women.”

The massacre of Deir Yassin was not the only massacre perpetrated by the Zionist gangs against the Palestinians. Palestinian research centers documented more than 75 massacres between 1937 and 1948 that led to the martyrdom of more than 15 Palestinians, the destruction of 531 villages and the displacement of 800,000 Palestinians who became refugees in all parts of the world.

74 years have passed now since the Deir Yassin massacre and the Israeli occupation continues with its crimes and attacks on the Palestinian people, their properties and sanctities with the aim of displacing the Palestinians and seizing and judaizing their lands amid complete international silence and full US support for the occupation’s colonialist schemes.

However, the Palestinians continue to stress that they will keep resisting and struggling until they restore their rights, including the right to return to their homeland.

The four heroic operations, carried out by a number of Palestinian resistance men in the occupied territories during the past two weeks and which led to the killing of 14 Israeli settlers, have proved that the flame of resistance will keep burning until the occupation  is defeated and a Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital is established.
