Damascus (ST) – Today, the Supreme Relief Committee received a shipment of humanitarian aid provided by Pakistan, including 60 tons of blankets allocated for the Lebanese arriving in Syria as a result of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
The Pakistani Ambassador to Damascus Shahid Akhtar stated: “This shipment is part of the aid provided by the Pakistani government that began last month, and includes 60 tons of blankets to help those arriving from Lebanon in the winter,” noting that other aid shipments will arrive successively.
Akhtar indicated that the government and people of Pakistan are well aware of the suffering and conditions the region is going through as a result of the Israeli attacks, appreciating the role of the Syrian government in providing aid and assistance to those arriving from Lebanon, and stressing his country’s desire to be a partner in this field.
Director of Relief in Rif Dimashq Governorate, Eng. Bassam Saadi, valued this aid provided by Pakistan, which contributes to supporting and assisting those arriving from Lebanon as a result of the Israeli aggression, indicating that the aid will be distributed to those entitled to it through the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Organization.
