PA issues a statement on the 107th anniversary of the ill-fated Balfour Declaration

DAMASCUS, Nov.2, (ST)- The People’s Assembly has affirmed that the ill-fated Balfour Declaration is far from the lowest elements of humanity and morality and established a long period of historical injustice that befell the Palestinian Arab people.

In a statement it issued on the 107th anniversary  of the declaration, the PA said: ”History repeats itself. The continuing crimes committed by the Zionist occupation forces through their brutal bombing of infrastructure, hospitals and homes in southern Lebanon and Gaza constitute a flagrant violation of all laws, customs, international conventions, human rights and international humanitarian law, with support from America and its western allies and in light of the international community’s silence about these massacres that daily leave hundreds of martyrs and wounded and the eradication of large parts of populated areas in Gaza.”

The statement added: “Today, our people in Palestine are exposed to the most heinous war crimes and aggression through the Zionist military escalation and its ongoing aggressive attempts to displace what remains of them, the reformulation of the geographical and political map, and attempts to declare Jerusalem as the capital of the Zionist entity, and seeking to thwart all proposed solutions, prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state, and impose dictates on them.”

It underlined that what happened and what is happening in Syria cannot be separated from the Balfour Declaration, and that the brutal terrorist attack that Syria was subjected to from the forces of evil, aggression and terrorism over the past years and the imposition of unjust economic sanctions on the steadfast Syrian people came to divert Syria from its constant approach to advocating and supporting the just Arab causes, most notably the Palestinian issue and the restoration of the occupied Syrian Arab Golan.

The statement concluded by saying: “ The issue of Palestine is our central issue, and we are fully confident of the inevitability of our victory over all the difficulties and obstacles that confront us until the restoration of all of our usurped lands thanks to the loyalty of our people, the heroism of the men of our Syrian Arab army, and the wisdom of our president Bashar al-Assad.”
