On the occasion of World Health Day, Al-Ghabbash and Al-Shanqeeti visit the Specialized Clinics Center in Al-Zahira
Minister of Health Hassan Al-Ghabbash accompanied by the Representative of the World Health Organization in Syria Iman Al-Shanqeeti on Thursday paid a visit to the specialized clinics center in Al-Zahira district in Damascus.
During the tour, which included the Department of Cardiology, the Thalassemia Specialist Center, and the Department of Diabetes Children, the mechanism of work of these departments and the services provided through them were reviewed.
In a statement to reporters, Al-Ghabbash stated that the visit aims to send a message of thanks and gratitude to workers in the field of healthcare in all their specialties on the occasion of World Health Day, which falls on tomorrow, indicating that health cadres are a source of pride and that their work everywhere makes a big difference in society.
Al-Ghabbash pointed out that global health emergencies, humanitarian and climatic crises intertwined with economic restrictions, and wars have hindered efforts to raise the level of public health in the world, which requires the provision of strong health systems to implement comprehensive health coverage and emergency preparedness, indicating that health is a basic human right, and health services must be available to all whenever and wherever needed.
Al-Ghabbash explained that this center has been chosen as providing qualitative diagnostic and therapeutic services, as the number of services provided in this center during the past year reached nearly 200,000 services. The Center includes 7 specialized departments for a number of diseases such as leishmaniasis, thalassemia and childhood diabetes, indicating that the Ministry has provided, from the beginning of 2023 until the end of February, nearly 4 million medical services in all its hospitals and medical centers.
In turn, Al-Shanqeeti explained that the organization celebrates the 75th anniversary of its establishment on April 7, World Health Day, and that the visit came in appreciation of the health workers, in whom she saw a high level of competence, knowledge and science.
Al-Shanqeeti emphasized the continuous partnership with the Ministry and health workers in the field of comprehensive health coverage, which begins with primary health care, in addition to raising the rate of preparedness for any emergency and working to raise the health level for all citizens in Syria, regardless of the geographical location, in addition to closing any gap in the health sector.
It is noteworthy that World Health Day is celebrated on the 7th of April every year, as this year’s celebration provides an opportunity to look back at the successes achieved in the field of public health, which have improved the quality of life during the past seven decades, and stimulate action to address health challenges to which we are exposed today.
