On June 19th, under the title Yoga for Health, the Indian Embassy in Damascus held an event on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, which falls on June 21 of each year, at the Roman Fayhaa Park in the city of As-Suwayda.
The event included a practice of exercises embodying the global unified movements of yoga under the supervision of certified trainers.
The Indian ambassador Dr. Hafiz al-Rahman stated that yoga is simple exercises that anyone can practice and is beneficial for health.
The Ambassador thanked the Syrian state and those concerned in the province for the good cooperation and provision of arrangements and facilities to hold this celebration that strengthens the strong ties between Syria and India.
The trainers Nidal Ghanem, Rasha Falhout and Rabih Al-Jabai pointed out that yoga exercises are suitable for all age groups and cultures, and they teach breadth, love, peace, reconciliation with oneself and acceptance of others.
For their part, Maher Bakri and Shireen Abu Yahya, participants in the event, referred to the importance of practicing yoga as more than one sport to become a way of life, especially at this stage after the war that has passed on our country.
