On 39th anniversary of Sabra and Shatila massacre, Israeli crimes continue against Palestinians amid international silence

39 years have passed since Sabra and Shatila massacre was committed by the Israeli occupation forces in Beirut.A massacre which claimed the lives of thousands of innocent Palestinian people. The crimes and massacres of the occupation, which amount to crimes against humanity, still continue against the Palestinians amid shameful international silence.

The massacre was one of the most horrific events written in the history of the entire world. It took place with prior planning by the occupation forces, which set out at on the night of September 16, 1982 to commit murders that lasted for 48 hours with the complicity of groups from the “Lebanese Forces” militia and the then so-called “South Lebanon Army”.

The vehicles of the Israeli occupation closed the entrances of the camp and did not allow entry until the massacre ended on the 18th of September so that the world woke up to one of the most heinous massacres in history and found thousands of dead bodies of women, children and the elderly.

The Israeli occupation forces threw light bombs that night, while militia members began to encircle the residents of the camp and kill hundreds of them using horrific methods, shooting everyone who moved in the alleys. Despite this heinous massacre, none of its perpetrators  were punished, and the matter was limited to investigation committees that reached results that were not implemented by legal follow-up.

The number of martyrs who died as a victim of this massacre is not yet clear, as estimates indicate the death of about 7000 martyrs. The pictures of children who are not more than three and four years old while they were in their pajamas and their covers stained with their blood, and the families killed by the occupation forces while they slept, remain a living witness and a proof of the ugliness of this crime. Sabra and Shatila  massacre simulates in its cruelty all the massacres committed by the occupation against the Palestinians.

Until this day, the Israeli occupation forces continue their criminal practices against the Palestinian people, including arrests, killings, settlements, razing lands, sieges, in light of shameful international silence and blatant Western bias.
