Oil and Mineral Resources Minister inspects phosphate mines in Homs

HOMS, NOV.9, (ST)- Today, the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Firas Qaddour inspected the phosphate extraction and production operations in the Sharqiya, Khunaifis, and South Abter mines in  Homs countryside and the measures required to increase production and raise marketing and export capacity.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the minister toured the work sites in these mines, and was briefed on the production process in all its aspects:  drilling, excavating,  transporting the extracted raw phosphate to crushers, washing, concentration, and drying plants, with the aim of obtaining a concentrated phosphate product that can be exported.

Those who are in charge of the work were asked to increase working hours, add new shifts, provide quick studies to achieve the largest amount of production, and develop work plans and programs to enhance performance and efficiency, and overcome difficulties facing the work.

Qaddour praised the efforts of workers in this sector, especially in light of the harsh working conditions, and listened to their demands, which focused on the acute shortage of cadres, workers, equipment and necessary mechanisms, increasing the wages, providing sanitary cars, emergency medicines and some service equipment at the work sites.

He stressed the commitment of the Ministry to provide everything necessary and gives priority to the requirements of workers.
