Mousavi: The West is using the United Nations platform to politicize the human rights issue

Tehran,(ST) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi reiterated his country’s rejection of the United Nations General Assembly resolution on human rights in Iran, stressing that some Western countries are using the platform of the international organization to politicize this file.

In a statement today, Mousavi said, commenting on the recent endorsement by the Third Committee of the General Assembly of the biased resolution against Iran that the decision that ignores human rights standards, support for terrorism and extremism, and violations of basic human rights is clear evidence of its illegality.

Mousavi explained that the political use of human rights and double standards in this field are inconsistent with the permanent development of human rights, expressing regret for the silence towards the widespread violations of human rights that are practiced against the Iranian people as a result of the unfair and illegal sanctions imposed on Iran.
