Damascus (ST)-The Ministry of Culture has put the final touches to launching the “Culture is a Message of Life” celebration, which is held on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the establishment of the ministry. It will start today and continue until the 28th of this month in various governorates.
The event is scheduled to start today at 7 pm in a celebration held at the Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus, which will be performed by the Syrian National Orchestra for Arabic Music with the participation of students and graduates of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts. The Directorate of Fine Arts will also hold a retrospective exhibition in the exhibition hall for the late artists Saeed Tahseen and Khaled Moaz, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of their birth. Their works on display are from the collections of the Ministry of Culture – the National Museum in Damascus.
The celebration will also include honoring a group of Syrian creators, including the cinematic artist Antoinette Azrie, the writer Dr. Hussein Juma, the great musician Riad Sakr, the theater artist Zuhair Al-Arabi, the media critic Saad Al-Qassem, the great artist Salim Sabry, the great musician Safwan Bahlawan, the plastic artist Issam Darwish, and the theater researcher Mustafa Abboud. It is noteworthy that the “Culture is a Message of Life” celebration includes about 240 cultural activities, including music, theater, plastic arts, cinema, intellectual, archaeological and heritage activities, held in various governorates.
