Minister of Higher Education, Chargé d’Affaires of the Indian Embassy discuss cooperation in scientific research
On March 30th, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, met with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Indian Embassy in Damascus, Satender Kumar Yadav.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations between the two countries in the field of higher education and scientific research.
They also discussed the mechanism for renewing and developing scientific and cultural exchange programs and scholarships at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Dr. Ibrahim stressed that the Syrian-Indian relations are witnessing remarkable development at all levels, pointing out that the ministry seeks to support relations at the scientific, research, cultural and training levels.
He pointed to the need to expand the grants offered by India to include specific specializations, including anesthesia technology, operations, radiology, dialysis, and the manufacture of medicines related to cancer diseases, in addition to encouraging scientific visits between the Syrian and Indian universities to view the scientific and research programs approved in both countries.
For his part, Kumar Yadav noted the need to establish a mechanism to organize grants and focus on making them qualitative rather than quantitative, and identifying basic priorities for the needs of Syrian universities He praised the Syrian students studying in Indian universities.
He said that his country’s government seeks to develop relations with Syria, indicating the need for continuous communication and coordination to determine the path of the agreed plans and visions, in a way that serves the Syrian and Indian students.
