Minister of Agriculture, Pakistani ambassador discuss activating the agreements signed between Syria and Pakistan

On August 30th, the Minister of Agriculture Muhammad Hassan Qatna met with the Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Damascus, Shahid Akhtar.

The two sides discussed cooperation in the agricultural field, the agreements signed between the two countries and ways to activate them.

Minister Qatana stressed the necessity of improving the existing relations between Syria and Pakistan in all fields, especially the economic and agricultural ones.

He pointed to the scientific and technical agreement signed between the two sides and the importance of updating it in a way that suits the requirements of the next stage, and developing executive programs for it.

He said that Syria possesses many fresh and manufactured agricultural products that can be exported to Pakistani markets and imported other products needed by Syrian markets, especially rice, baby milk, dates, agricultural machinery, and others.

In turn, the Pakistani ambassador referred to the most important products that characterize his country, such as dates, rice, wheat, milk, dairy, sugar, agricultural tractors, and others.

He pointed to the importance of coordination between the two sides to develop appropriate formulas to enhance trade exchange, and explaining that the Pakistani markets need olives, olive oil, tomato, nuts, dried fruits, and others products that can be imported from Syria.
