Minister of Agriculture, FAO Representative discuss strengthening cooperation in implementing joint projects
Damascus (ST) – Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Muhammad Hassan Qatana and Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) in Damascus Tony Al-Atl discussed on Monday the stages that the “one product” project on olives has passed and the necessity of launching similar projects related to climate change.
Qatana talked about the importance of developing ways of cooperation between the Ministry and the organization regarding the agricultural projects proposed for the next stage.
He indicated that the Ministry has established standard specifications for the work of presses, in addition to a guidance program for developing olive oil productivity, and all of this requires support from organization.
Qatana stressed the projects related to climate change and mitigating its effects, and food security to develop production and productivity of strategic crops.
The Minister affirmed the importance of the work that has been accomplished with the aim of developing the investment map for Eastern Ghouta and the stages that this project has reached.
In turn, Al-Atl expressed the organization’s readiness to cooperate with the Ministry to implement all proposed projects to reach the desired goals in a way that serves all targeted segments and achieves development for them.
