Mexican president condemns US trade and economic embargo on Cuba

Mexico (ST): Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has condemned the US trade and economic embargo on Cuba, calling it a “genocide”.

Lopez Obrador was quoted as saying at a press conference by the TASS news agency:  “Why is there such isolation and sanctions. This is a genocidal policy”, warning the United States that it “appears in a bad light as a result of the imposition of these sanctions.”

Lopez Obrador reiterated that he will not attend the Summit of the Americas scheduled for next June in Los Angeles unless its organizers invite all countries in the region, including Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua to it.
