Mashfej to Spanish media: Syria’s participation in “Fitur 2024” indicates that it has restored its position on the world tourism map

Deputy Minister of Tourism Nidal Mashfej has stressed that Syria’s participation in the International Tourism Exhibition “Fitur 2024” currently held in Spain, is an indication that Syria has restored its position on the world tourism map as one of the tourist destinations in the region.

In a statement to Spanish official media outlets, Mashfej said this participation is an opportunity get other countries acquainted with Syria’s important tourist elements, including civilizations, cultures and monuments that represent important historical eras.

He clarified that the Ministry of Tourism hopes during the coming stage to make Syria one of the best tourist destinations in the region and the world, given the abundant and diverse tourist elements, including the historical and cultural sites, the diverse Syrian cuisine and the hospitable people.

Mashfej explained that tourism in Syria is not only a recreational activity, rather it is a social message that aims at encouraging Syrian expatriates to visit their country constantly, and it is a societal responsibility due its economic impacts that contribute to increasing tourist arrivals, and this can done through cooperation with tourism agencies in Syria.

The 44th edition of “Fitur” International Tourism Exhibition was launched in the Spanish capital, Madrid, on the 24th of January and it will continue until January 28th. Syria is represented at the exhibition by the Ministry of Tourism, the Federation of Tourism Chambers and 15 companies and tourist offices.
