Mansour calls on international protection for the Palestinian people

New York, (ST) –  The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, once again called on the international community to work to provide international protection for the Palestinian people

He also called to stop the continuous crimes of the Israeli occupation and its settlers against them in line with international law, including international humanitarian law and human rights law.

In a letter he sent on Wednesday to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council and the President of the United Nations General Assembly in this regard, Mansour stressed that the occupation forces and Israeli settlers have continued their violations and crimes against the Palestinian people, especially in light of the celebration of Christmas and New Year in particular.

Mansour pointed out that the occupation’s violent attacks and settlers’ attacks during the past ten days in separate parts of the West Bank and the occupied city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) caused hundreds of Palestinians to be injured and killed .

Mansour talked about the Defense for Children International report, which warned that the threat of displacement still threatens thousands of Palestinians and their families as a result of targeting their neighborhoods in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem) by the occupation.

This occupation that seeks to remove the Palestinians from their homes in the city of Al-Quds is a serious violation of international law, which prohibits all procedures which aims to change its demographic composition and historical character”, he added.

The permanent representative of Palestine to the United Nations pointed out that the occupation forces have continued to subject Palestinian prisoners in their detention centers to all forms of psychological and physical abuse, in addition to the policy of medical neglect, especially against the prisoners on hunger strike. Hisham Abu Hawash, who has been on hunger strike for more than 136 days and Abdul Baset Maatan, who was diagnosed with cancer are examples of this
