Maduro: Washington is Behind the Coup Attempt in Venezuela… We are Ready for Oil Cooperation with BRICS

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has reiterated that the United States is behind the attempted coup that took place in his country to destabilize it.

“The United States believes that it is the electoral authority in Venezuela and in the rest of the world,” Maduro said in a statement quoted by AFP.

Maduro stressed that his re-election and victory in the recent elections in Venezuela is “the greatest proof of what a people can do for its independence and future,” stressing that the world “no longer depends on the decision of Washington, or the brutal capitalist extreme right, and neo-fascism”.

Maduro warned far-right leader Edmundo Gonzalez of serious legal consequences for his failure to respond to a court summons in Venezuela yesterday.

On the other hand, the Venezuelan President expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with the BRICS countries in the fields of oil and gas.

“BRICS has a range of opportunities in trade and Venezuela is ready to be there,” Maduro was quoted as saying by Sputnik, pointing out that BRICS is a huge market for national producers, so he constantly urges Venezuelan exporters to work on this.
