Local Administration Minister holds talks with Iranian Ambassador in Damascus over cooperation in environment field

DAMAECUS, Jun.20, (ST)- The Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf discussed on Monday with Iran’s Ambassador in Damascus Mahdi Sobhani the ways of enhancing and expanding the horizons of cooperation between the two friendly countries in the fields of environment and local administration.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Makhlouf spoke about  the measures taken by the ministry in coordination with the concerned authorities to ease the negative effects of climate change, which requires prompt actions and efforts at local, regional and global levels.

The minister also referred to the importance of the current coordination with Iran in this field after signing the memorandum of understanding with the Environmental Protection Organization in Iran to protect the environment and preserve the environment and reduce the phenomenon of sand and dust storms.

He talked about the possibility of  cooperation in the field of solid waste management, benefiting from the Iranian experience in the field of local administration and municipalities, and exchanging experiences between the two countries.

For his part, Sobhani expressed his country’s determination to develop bilateral cooperation relations, stressing that the issue of the environment is one of the important issues that must be worked on and developed between the two countries.
