Lebanon files complaint to Security Council over Israeli aggression on Beirut’s southern suburb

The Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations in New York has filed a complaint to the Security Council and the Secretary-General of the United Nations regarding the recent Israeli aggression on the southern suburb of Beirut.
The Lebanese News Agency reported that the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained in the complaint that this attack is the most dangerous chapter, as it constituted a dangerous escalation as the it targeted a densely populated area in a clear and blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, the safety of its territories and citizens, and all UN resolutions that require “Israel” to stop its violations of Lebanese sovereignty, including Resolution 1701, as well as international and humanitarian laws and the UN Charter.
Lebanon warned in the complaint that “Israel’s” intentions to escalate would drag the entire region into an open war with dire consequences, noting that the aggression on the southern suburb, as well as the aggression that followed it on the Iranian capital, Tehran, are further evidence of “Israel’s” escalatory intentions at a time when international mediators are working to reach a ceasefire agreement and prevent the expansion of the war.
Lebanon called on the Security Council to clearly condemn the Israeli aggression and oblige “Israel” to stop the escalation and stop its attacks on Lebanon’s sovereignty, the safety of its territory and its people, and to respect the relevant Security Council resolutions to prevent the escalation of the conflict and the entanglement of the entire region in a comprehensive and destructive war that will be difficult to contain.
