On January 15, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov urged refraining from using or threatening sanctions or non-diplomatic methods in international relations.
“In the twenty-first century, any methods that would take us back to the time of old and new colonialism … should be avoided. Sanctions do not help, and I do not think that sanctions and other non-diplomatic methods should be discussed if we are talking about the future of the world,” Russia Today quoted Lavrov as saying during the international conference “Risina” in the Indian capital, New Delhi,
Lavrov said that Moscow urges the Gulf states to study a joint security mechanism for the region.
Regarding the situation in Libya, Lavrov announced that negotiations in Moscow on the Libyan situation are not final, but they are important in enhancing the peace process in this country.
On January 14, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Moscow will continue to work with the Libyan parties to reach a settlement.
