Italy imposes strict restrictions on arms exports to Israel

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced strict restrictions on arms exports to Israel.

Novosti quoted Meloni saying in the Italian Senate on the eve of the EU summit on the 17th and 18th of this month :”Following the start of the Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip, the government immediately suspended the issuance of all new licenses for the export of military products to Israel”.

Meloni added that contracts signed after October 7 of last year have not been implemented, and all export licenses issued before that date have been reviewed. She stressed, “Italy’s position is stricter and more restrictive than that applied by partners in France, Germany and Britain”.

Meloni pointed out that “Italy continues to evaluate new and old licenses, and take measures to ban the export of weapons that could be used in the current crisis.”
