The activities of the’ scientific days’ conference organized by the Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University on the centenary occasion of its founding were launched on Saturday, with the participation of doctors and technicians from Italy, and the attendance of about 800 specialist doctors and graduate and undergraduate students from Damascus University.
With the participation of two Italian doctors from the University of Milan and a specialist in medical engineering from Italy, the ‘scientific days’ conference will continue at the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus in cooperation with Ruba Al-Mimar Medical Equipment Company for three days. It will include practical training, watching a live broadcast of dental implants and getting acquainted with modern medical techniques and equipment in this field.
The scientific coordinator of the Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University, Dr. Mazen Zenati, noted that the goal of the ‘scientific days’ conference is to raise the level of dentists and increase their expertise, considering that the presence of Italian doctors with a high level of experience is a successful attempt to bypass the siege imposed on Syria.
Zenati pointed out that the training will be theoretical, practical and laboratory based, noting that the sponsoring company has provided modern devices, including the (magnetic hammer), which is a completely innovative tool for dental surgery and implants that doctors in Syria have never used.
The trainer who is responsible for the cosmetic aspect of natural and artificial teeth at the University of Milan Diego Lopez said that participating with Syrian doctors and exchanging experiences, skills and mutual benefit with them is a “great thing,” noting that the training will initially be through lectures and then move to the practical aspect.
For her part, the director of the sponsoring company, Ruba Al-Mimar, confirmed that the forum aimed at presenting the latest scientific findings in the field of dentistry and briefing dentists on modern and high-tech devices and how to use them. She underlined the importance of the conference as it compensates for the doctors’ need to travel and attend international conferences and see what is new in their field, which has become difficult in the current circumstances.
